The Sofia beret is made by Spanish hat makers in a tightly knit and extremely soft Australian Merino Wool.

The Basque beret (or txapela) was adopted, brought by Basque immigrants in the 1700s, by the people of Patagonia as well, as a central part of the Gaucho outfit.
